Thunderstorms and the In-Between

Heat — Oppressive and ruthless;

Rain — Cool and refreshing;

a South Georgia day hangs in the balance.

On one side

Death – cruel, blistered, scorched, dried up;

On the other

Life — saturated, washed, cleansed, made new;

the tension of an afternoon,

the tension of life itself.

Like Saturday wedged between

Friday’s Cross and

Sunday’s Empty Tomb.

Death behind us and Life before us

Yet we wait in-between…
